In a strategic move to enhance road safety and ensure immediate assistance to accident victims, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HLL Lifecare Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoH&FW).

The agreement, formalized in the presence of NHAI Chairman Mr. Santosh Kumar Yadav and Mr. Kuruvilla P.C., Associate Vice President & Business Head of HLL Lifecare Limited, aims to bolster NHAI’s Incident Management System (IMS) for faster response times and improved medical support.
Key initiatives under this MoU include:
- Trauma Centres & Emergency Stabilization Centers along highways for immediate medical assistance.
- Geo-tagging & mapping of health facilities integrated with ambulance services.
- Deployment of state-of-the-art ambulances equipped with Basic Life Support (BLS) systems for real-time tracking and emergency response.
- Training programs for Toll Plaza staff on basic life support, stress management, and emergency handling.
- Health screening camps for truckers and highway users, offering eye tests, tuberculosis screenings, HIV/AIDS testing, and oral cancer screenings.
A dedicated Technical Support Unit will be set up to oversee these initiatives in collaboration with NHAI officials.
The MoU, set for a five-year duration, underscores NHAI’s commitment to improving road safety, reducing response time in emergencies, and ultimately saving lives on National Highways.
