New Delhi: Two prominent PSU leaders Rajendra Prasad Goyal, Chairman & Managing Director of NHPC Limited, and Pradeep Gaur, Chairman & Managing Director of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) have retired upon attaining the age of superannuation on 31st August 2025. Their exits mark significant leadership transitions at the helm of two of India’s largest public sector enterprises.
Rajendra Prasad Goyal’s Journey with NHPC
Mr. Rajendra Prasad Goyal superannuated as CMD, Director (Finance), and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of NHPC Limited. Over the years, he held several additional responsibilities, including serving as CMD (additional charge) from March to August 2024 and Director (Finance) of SJVN Limited on additional charge until January 2025.
Mr. Goyal began his career with NHPC on 18 November 1988 as a Senior Accountant at the Salal Power Station in Jammu & Kashmir. Since then, he contributed extensively across projects such as Chamera-I, Dulhasti, and the Regional Office in Jammu, before moving to the Corporate Office in Faridabad. Rising through the ranks, he became Director (Finance) on 1 October 2020, overseeing critical portfolios including Corporate Accounts, Policy, Taxation, Treasury, Investor Relations, and Establishment.
Following the retirement of former CMD Raj Kumar Chaudhary in June 2025, Mr. Goyal was given the additional charge of CMD from July 1, 2025. His career at NHPC reflects over three decades of service in hydropower and finance, where he played a key role in financial strategy, policy-making, and corporate governance.

Pradeep Gaur’s Tenure at RVNL
Mr. Pradeep Gaur, an Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) officer of the 1987 batch, also retired on 31 August 2025 as CMD of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). He had been leading the company since September 2018, steering RVNL through a period of expansion, diversification, and steady growth in project execution across India’s railway infrastructure sector.
Upon his retirement, Mr. Gaur ceased to be a director on RVNL’s Board with effect from 1 September 2025. The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) had already advertised the vacancy for CMD in April 2025, but the interview schedule is yet to be announced.
For now, SC Jain, another senior IRSE officer, has been given the additional charge of CMD, RVNL, until a permanent appointment is made. The selection process is expected to shortlist senior executive directors and board-level officials, with final decisions likely to be formalized in the company’s 22nd Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Adding to the leadership changes, Mr. Pushp Mitra Sharma, Principal Executive Director of RVNL, also retired on 31 August 2025, stepping down from senior management alongside Mr. Gaur.
Leadership Transition in Key PSUs
The retirement of Mr. Goyal and Mr. Gaur highlights an important leadership transition within the power and railway PSUs, respectively. While NHPC continues to play a pivotal role in harnessing hydropower and renewable energy for India’s energy mix, RVNL remains at the forefront of India’s expanding railway infrastructure. Their successors will face the dual responsibility of sustaining growth and meeting the government’s ambitious targets for energy and transport infrastructure.
