Patna: In a significant development, the Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar has granted a major promotion to Amit Lodha, a 1986-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. Lodha, currently serving as the Inspector General of Police (IG) at the State Crime Records Bureau, has been promoted to the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADG).
The Home Department issued an official notification confirming the promotion, which takes effect conceptually from the date of promotion to his junior officer, Ratna Sanjay Katiyar. However, Lodha’s promotion will be realized in practice once he assumes the charge of his new position. This move is seen as a recognition of Lodha’s distinguished service in the state police.
This promotion also draws attention to the growing emphasis on officer accountability and the progression of police officers in Bihar’s law enforcement structure.
In related developments, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met with the 2023 batch of trainee officers from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the Bihar cadre on Sunday. During the interaction, Kumar stressed the crucial role IAS officers play in implementing the policies of the government.
The Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction over the gender balance within the batch, highlighting that six out of the 10 trainee IAS officers are women. He emphasized the significant strides women are making in various fields, noting that their progress brings him great joy and pride.
The promotion of Amit Lodha and the Chief Minister’s comments reflect the ongoing efforts in Bihar to empower and encourage both law enforcement and administrative officers to serve with dedication and commitment to public service.
