Gaya, Bihar: During his Samriddhi Yatra in Gaya, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation for 693 development projects worth ₹743 crore, while also inaugurating the Millet Centre of Excellence. The CM made a major announcement regarding the recruitment of 45,000 teachers through BPSC, highlighting the state’s ongoing focus on improving education and infrastructure.
Major Announcement on Teacher Recruitment
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar addressed the crowd in Mayapur village, Tonkupa block, Gaya district, and shared details of the state’s progress in education. He stated that since 2023, over 5.24 lakh teachers have been recruited in Bihar, and the process for recruiting an additional 45,000 teachers through BPSC is currently underway. This move is expected to strengthen the quality of education and support government schools across the state.
Development Projects and Infrastructure Boost
As part of the Samriddhi Yatra, CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation for 693 projects with a total investment of ₹743 crore. The projects cover various sectors including roads, agriculture, health, and rural development.
- Road Infrastructure: Every village in Bihar is now connected by all-weather roads, reducing travel time significantly.
- Agriculture and Fisheries: Bihar has achieved self-reliance in fish production, and farmers’ income has increased due to various initiatives.
- Employment: Over 50 lakh people have received employment, including 10 lakh in government jobs and 40 lakh in other sectors.
Health Sector Improvements
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar highlighted the growth in healthcare facilities:
- Patient inflow in Primary Health Centers (PHCs) has risen to 11,000 per month.
- The number of medical colleges increased from 6 to 12, while PMCH is being expanded to a 5,400-bed facility.
- IGIMS is also undergoing expansion to meet rising healthcare demands.
These steps aim to provide better access to quality healthcare for Bihar’s citizens.
Nitish Kumar Reviews Gaya’s Local Development
During the visit, the CM also emphasized development in Gaya district, including:
- Ganga water supply projects
- Rubber dam initiatives
- Gaya-Bodh Gaya corridor development
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary praised CM Nitish Kumar for transforming Bihar over the last 20 years, citing improvements in road connectivity that have reduced travel time from 3–4 hours to 1–1.5 hours.
Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi also highlighted the transformation of areas previously known for lawlessness, now hosting initiatives like the Millet Centre of Excellence, reflecting the positive changes brought under Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
20 Years of Governance and Law & Order Improvements
CM Nitish Kumar reflected on Bihar’s journey since 2005, when the NDA government first came to power, establishing law and order and focusing on development. He noted that earlier, fear and communal tensions restricted mobility, but now citizens can move freely and live in a safer environment.
Nitish Kumar also compared current development to previous governments, emphasizing the substantial progress in roads, electricity, education, and healthcare. He credited consistent governance for Bihar’s transformation into a more developed and secure state.
