Motihari: On the second day of the ongoing Samriddhi Yatra, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Motihari in East Champaran district to review the progress of various government initiatives and provide directions for the speedy implementation of announced schemes. During his visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated 30 projects costing ₹138 crore and laid the foundation for 40 new schemes worth ₹34 crore aimed at boosting development in the region.
Inspection of Skill Development Initiatives
During the visit, the Chief Minister toured the Government Women’s Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Motihari, which runs skill development programs in collaboration with Tata Tech. Nitish Kumar interacted with the students and learned about the impact of these programs. The students expressed that the training has been highly beneficial and has given them opportunities to learn practical skills.
At the ITI campus, the Chief Minister remotely unveiled foundation stones and inauguration plaques for all ongoing projects in East Champaran. He also inspected various stalls set up at the campus, including products created under the Small Enterprise Development Scheme. He encouraged the entrepreneurs and appreciated their efforts.
Nitish Kumar also visited stalls run by Jeevika self-help groups, distributing symbolic cheques totaling ₹370 crore to 27,429 groups through bank linkages. He motivated the women entrepreneurs to continue their work and improve further.
Infrastructure Development and Site Inspections
The Chief Minister then visited Majurahaan, on the outskirts of Motihari, to inspect the under-construction high-level RCC bridge over the Dhanauti River, along with its approach roads. Nitish Kumar directed officials to complete the bridge at the earliest, highlighting that it will significantly ease transportation for local residents.
Earlier, he also visited the construction site of the Virat Ramayana Temple in Kalyanpur block, participating in the Sahasralingam Puja ceremony. During the visit, he toured the temple premises and provided necessary instructions for the timely completion of construction.

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Minister of Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, and other local representatives. Senior officials accompanying the Chief Minister included Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, DGP Vinay Kumar, Chief Minister’s Secretary Anupam Kumar, Secretary of Youth, Employment and Skill Development Department Kaushal Kishore, MD of Bihar State Road Development Corporation, Shrisht Kapil Ashok, Tirhut Division Commissioner Girivar Dayal Singh, East Champaran DM Saurabh Jorwal, and SP Swarn Prabhat, among others.
About the Samriddhi Yatra
The Samriddhi Yatra is an initiative by the Bihar government to monitor development projects, interact with citizens, and ensure the effective implementation of government schemes across the state. The Yatra emphasizes infrastructure development, skill training, women empowerment, and economic support for self-help groups.
