NLC India Limited Signs MoU with NPTI to Launch Power Plant Engineering Course for Youth in Tamil Nadu

New Delhi: NLC India Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s National Power Training Institute (NPTI), the national apex body for training in the power sector under the Ministry of Power. The agreement was formalized today at the Corporate Office of NLCIL in Neyveli as part of NLCIL’s ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at fostering skill development and enhancing employability.

Strategic Partnership for Skill Development

The MoU was signed by Mr. Saravanabhavan A KR, Unit Head (Learning & Development), on behalf of NLCIL, and S. Amirthavalli, Director, representing NPTI. The signing ceremony was witnessed by distinguished dignitaries including:

  • Mr. Samir Swarup, Director (Human Resource), NLCIL
  • Mr. Jasper Rose I.S, Executive Director (Mines & Services, Land), NLCIL
  • Mr. Pankaj Kumar, CGM/HR, NLCIL
  • Senior officials from both NLCIL and NPTI

This collaboration marks a significant step toward bridging the gap between industry requirements and workforce capabilities by bringing together two of India’s leading organizations in energy and power training.

Job‑Oriented Post‑Diploma Program to Boost Employment

Under the terms of the MoU, NLCIL and NPTI will jointly conduct a one‑year Post‑Diploma Course in Power Plant Engineering, designed specifically to enhance the technical skills of participants and increase their employability in the power and energy sectors.

The course will be offered primarily to:

  • Project Affected Persons (PAPs) of NLCIL
  • Deserving and unemployed youth from Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu

This initiative aims to create a pipeline of qualified and job‑ready professionals equipped to meet the emerging needs of the power industry.

Driving Vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’

The collaboration underscores the shared vision of both organizations to contribute to Viksit Bharat 2047—India’s long‑term developmental goal focused on creating a skilled workforce and robust industrial growth. By providing quality training that aligns with industry demands, NLCIL and NPTI are focused on empowering youth with meaningful employment opportunities in leading power companies and related sectors.
