NLC India Becomes First CPSU to Receive IPMA Delta Class 3 ‘Standardised’ Certification at Global Forum 2026

Mahabalipuram/Chennai: NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has created history by becoming the first Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) in India to receive the prestigious IPMA Delta Competence Class 3 “Standardised” Certification.

The global recognition was conferred at the IPMA Global Project Professional Forum (PPF) 2026, held in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu.

The certification was presented by Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Information Technology & Digital Services, Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, to Mr. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India Limited.

The two-day forum was organised under the aegis of the International Project Management Association (IPMA) and focused on the theme:

“Co-creating a Global Transformation through Project Management – Embracing AI, Innovation and Sustainability.

The event brought together global project management leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to deliberate on governance frameworks, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and sustainability in project execution.

What the IPMA Delta Certification Means

The IPMA Delta Competence Class 3 “Standardised” Certification is a globally benchmarked organisational assessment that evaluates:

The recognition highlights NLCIL’s structured governance framework, professional excellence, and capability to manage complex, multi-sector portfolios while delivering long-term societal and financial value.

In addition to the Delta Certification, the company was also honoured with the PMA Leadership Excellence Award, recognising its strategic vision, operational discipline, and commitment to sustainable infrastructure development.

Receiving the award, CMD Mr. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli described it as a “moment of profound honour and pride” for the organisation. He dedicated the achievement to the entire NLCIL workforce, acknowledging their professional discipline and six decades of engineering excellence that laid the foundation for this global recognition.

Focus on AI, Innovation and Sustainability

During the inaugural session, Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan emphasised that execution capability remains a critical challenge in project delivery. He highlighted the growing importance of digital transformation, digital twins, and Artificial Intelligence, while also stressing responsible risk management in AI adoption.

The forum served as a key platform for knowledge exchange on evolving methodologies required to manage increasing project complexity in a rapidly changing global environment.
