Union Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha that the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has made no disbursement of funds for projects in the poultry, coir, and small-scale industry sectors over the past five years.

In a written reply to a parliamentary question, Mr. Shah clarified that the absence of financial assistance to these sectors is not due to lack of allocation, but rather because no project proposals were received by the NCDC for consideration during this period.

“The financial assistance by NCDC to any sector is not limited by allocation, as support is extended based on the receipt of viable project proposals from cooperative entities,” the minister stated.
However, disbursements were made in other areas, notably in the Women Cooperatives and the Jute sector, for which detailed data was provided. These two sectors have received NCDC funding aimed at promoting cooperative development, employment, and value addition in their respective domains.
The Minister’s statement underscores the need for increased awareness and initiative among cooperative societies in underfunded sectors like poultry, coir, and small-scale industries, to come forward with viable project proposals that could tap into the financial support available from NCDC.
