NTPC Bongaigaon Partners with Cosmic Foundation to Install Solar-Powered RO Systems in Guwahati

10 solar water purification units to provide safe drinking water under NTPC’s CSR initiative at a cost of ₹43 lakh

New Delhi: In a significant step to enhance access to safe drinking water and promote renewable energy-based solutions, NTPC Limited – Bongaigaon signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Cosmic Foundation, Prayagraj on 2 February 2026. The initiative is part of NTPC Bongaigaon’s strategic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in Assam.

The MoA signing ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director (Eastern Region-II & Southern Region), NTPC Limited, and Mr. Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, along with Mr. Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon. Mr. Amit Kumar Asthana, AGM (HR), signed on behalf of NTPC Bongaigaon, while Mr. Awanish Tripathi, President of Cosmic Foundation, represented the foundation.

Solar RO Systems to Ensure Clean Drinking Water

Under the agreement, 10 Solar Water Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems will be installed at strategic public locations across the Guwahati Parliamentary Constituency. The project, with a total cost of ₹43 lakh, will feature 1200 Wp MNRE-approved solar modules compliant with IP66, ROHS, and CE standards, along with 500-litre storage capacity.

These systems aim to provide sustainable access to safe drinking water while leveraging renewable energy, combining social welfare with environmentally responsible infrastructure development.

Commitment to Community Welfare and Sustainable Development

Addressing the event, Mr. Arindam Sinha reiterated NTPC’s dedication to community welfare, highlighting that safe drinking water is a public health priority and a key pillar of responsible corporate citizenship. Mr. Awanish Tripathi assured timely project execution, quality installation, and long-term maintenance of the systems.

The initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)-6: Clean Water and Sanitation, reflecting NTPC Bongaigaon’s efforts to integrate renewable energy solutions into essential social infrastructure. The project is expected to create a lasting social impact by improving public health and promoting environmentally sustainable solutions in Guwahati.
