New Delhi: NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Octopus Energy Group to accelerate collaboration in renewable energy, electric mobility, and digital power solutions.
The agreement was formalized during the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Power from March 19–22, 2026.
Key Leaders Present at the Signing
The MoU was signed by Dr. Jatinder Singh Chandok, Head of International Business Development at NTPC, and Mr. Chris Fitzgerald, Group Director (International Affairs) at Octopus Energy.
The event was attended by senior officials including Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Ministry of Power), Piyush Singh, Additional Secretary, Gurdeep Singh, CMD of NTPC, and Renu Narang, CEO of NVVN.

Scope of the Strategic Collaboration
The non-binding MoU establishes a framework for NTPC and Octopus Energy to jointly explore opportunities across multiple segments of the energy sector. Key areas of collaboration include:
- Electricity distribution and retail solutions
- Renewable energy generation and energy storage
- Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure
- Digital energy platforms and smart utility solutions
- Innovation, research & development, and capacity building
The partnership will initially focus on projects in India and the United Kingdom, with plans to expand into other global markets over time.

This collaboration is a major step in NTPC’s efforts to integrate clean energy technologies and digital innovation into its operations. By leveraging Octopus Energy’s expertise in advanced digital platforms and customer-centric energy solutions, NTPC aims to:
