NTPC REL Commissions 50 MW Solar Project in MP, Group Capacity Reaches 77,461 MW

This commissioning marks another step in NTPC’s commitment to clean energy, further strengthening its position as India’s largest power generation company.

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has successfully commissioned the second and final phase of its 50 MW solar project at Shajapur Solar Park, Madhya Pradesh, increasing the NTPC Group’s total installed and commercial capacity to 77,461.50 MW, the company stated in a BSE filing on Wednesday.

The first phase of the project, with a capacity of 55 MW, was already declared operational on November 29, 2024. With the commissioning of the final 50 MW unit, the total capacity of the Shajapur Solar Project (Unit I) now stands at 105 MW.

NTPC’s Green Energy Push

NTPC REL, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Limited, plays a key role in NTPC’s clean energy expansion under the Ministry of Power. The NTPC Group, which includes various joint ventures and subsidiaries, has been aggressively expanding its renewable energy portfolio to align with India’s net-zero targets.
