NTPC Talcher Kaniha Holds Disaster Awareness Programme with NDRF and Odisha Govt to Boost Community Safety

Employees, Students, and Local Villagers Trained on Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, and Safety Measures During Interactive Awareness Initiative

New Delhi: NTPC Talcher Kaniha, in collaboration with the Government of Odisha and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 3rd Battalion, Munduli, organized a disaster awareness programme on February 4, 2026. The initiative aimed at educating employees, local villagers, and students on emergency preparedness and safety measures, reinforcing the importance of community resilience.

Event Highlights and Participation

The awareness programme was held at the township auditorium and attended by around 300 participants, including:

  • NTPC employees
  • CISF personnel
  • Union and association members
  • School principals and students
  • Local villagers and contract workers
  • Township security personnel

The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including:

  • Mr. K. Narasimha Reddy, ED (Talcher Kaniha)
  • Dr. Ramesh Kumar Behera, Dy. Director, Factories & Boilers, Angul
  • Mr. Madhab Chandra Mallick, Asst. Director, Factories & Boilers
  • District emergency officials of Angul

Training and Demonstrations by NDRF

The NDRF team, led by Team Commander Mr. Rajiv Acharya, conducted live demonstrations and briefings covering:

  • Dos and don’ts during natural and man-made emergencies
  • First aid for injuries, fractures, drowning, snake bites, and road accidents
  • Safety precautions during earthquakes and other disasters

Participants gained hands-on knowledge of emergency response techniques and practical safety measures, enhancing disaster preparedness at both workplace and community levels.

Concluding Remarks

In his address, Mr. K. Narasimha Reddy praised the NDRF for organizing the programme and thanked all participants for their involvement. He emphasized that such disaster awareness exercises are vital for site safety and community preparedness, and will play a key role in strengthening future emergency management strategies.
