NTPC Undertakes Major CSR Initiatives in Bhubaneswar and Farakka to Boost Healthcare and Girl Empowerment – Details Inside

Both initiatives underscore NTPC’s sustained efforts in uplifting communities through focused interventions in healthcare and education

NTPC Ltd. has rolled out two impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives—one focused on strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Bhubaneswar, and another aimed at empowering young girls in Farakka.

In Bhubaneswar, NTPC’s Eastern Region-II Headquarters contributed essential medical equipment worth Rs. 63.59 lakh to AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The donation includes 50 Rapid Emergency Recovery Trolleys, 60 Folding Wheelchairs with Cushions, 60 Stretchers on Trolleys, and 50 AYUSH Fixed-Height Overbed Tables. The equipment was formally handed over by Mr. Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director (East-II), NTPC, to Prof. (Dr.) Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, during a ceremony on 28th May 2025. Mr. Sinha highlighted NTPC’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access and service quality, while Dr. Biswas expressed gratitude for the support, stating that the contribution would significantly improve patient care and operational efficiency.

Meanwhile, in Farakka, NTPC launched the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM-2025), a 28-day residential program running from May 26 to June 22. The initiative, inaugurated on 27th May 2025, is designed to empower 120 girls (90 from West Bengal and 30 from Jharkhand) through academic support, life skills training, and personality development. The curriculum includes subjects like English, Maths, Science, and EVS, along with self-defense, health and hygiene awareness, and yoga. The inauguration event was attended by Mr. Amit Kumar Shaw (2017-batch IPS officer), SP Jangipur (Chief Guest), Ms. Ekam J. Singh, SDO Jangipur, Mr. Ajay Singhal, Executive Director (Farakka), and Mrs. Seema Singhal, President of Udita Ladies Club. Mr. Singhal reaffirmed NTPC’s commitment to girl child empowerment, aligning with the national ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ mission.

Both initiatives underscore NTPC’s sustained efforts in uplifting communities through focused interventions in healthcare and education.
