NTPL Signs ₹2.97 Crore CSR MoU with Gandhigram Rural Institute to Establish Gandhi Museum in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu: NLC Tamil Nadu Power Limited (NTPL) has taken a significant step toward cultural preservation and educational development by announcing a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to support the establishment of a Gandhi Museum in Tamil Nadu.

Under this initiative, NTPL has extended financial assistance of ₹2.97 crore for the development of the NTPL Gandhi Museum at The Gandhigram Rural Institute (Deemed to be University) located in Gandhigram, Dindigul district.

MoU Signed for Gandhi Museum Project

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the project was officially signed on May 25, 2026. The agreement was executed between Dr. M. Sundaramari, Registrar (i/c), The Gandhigram Rural Institute, and Thiru T. A. Aravind Raja, Chief Executive Officer of NTPL.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of senior officials from NLC India Limited and academic representatives of the institute, marking a collaborative effort between the energy sector and academia for cultural development.

Objective: Preserving Mahatma Gandhi’s Legacy

The proposed Gandhi Museum aims to preserve, promote, and showcase the life, ideals, and contributions of Mahatma Gandhi. The museum is expected to function as a center for:

  • Education and learning
  • Historical and cultural research
  • Public awareness and inspiration

It will serve students, researchers, and visitors by offering insights into Gandhi’s philosophy and his role in India’s freedom movement, while encouraging value-based education.

NTPL’s CSR Commitment Toward Heritage and Education

NTPL stated that this initiative reflects its continued commitment to heritage conservation, education, and community development. Through structured CSR programs, the company aims to create long-term social impact by supporting meaningful projects that benefit both academic institutions and society at large.

The Gandhi Museum project is seen as a step toward strengthening cultural awareness and preserving India’s historical legacy for future generations.
