Oil India Limited (OIL) has achieved significant strides in its 2024 Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) ratings, signaling a robust commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

In its inaugural year of CDP participation, OIL markedly improved its Climate Change rating from F to C, while securing a commendable B- rating in Water Security. These advancements underscore OIL’s proactive efforts towards reducing its carbon footprint and implementing sustainable water management practices.

The elevated Climate Change rating reflects OIL’s enhanced transparency and proactive measures in emissions reduction, adoption of cleaner energy sources, and adherence to global environmental standards. Similarly, the B- rating in Water Security highlights the company’s initiatives in sustainable water usage, conservation practices, and effective wastewater management.

Dr. Ranjit Rath, Chairman and Managing Director of OIL, expressed satisfaction with the improved ratings, emphasizing that these outcomes validate the company’s focused approach to tackling climate change and water security challenges. As a responsible player in the energy sector, OIL remains steadfast in its commitment to minimizing environmental impact while promoting sustainable growth.

During the India Energy Week 2025 in New Delhi, OIL unveiled its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Strategy under Project ‘Santulan.’ This initiative outlines a structured roadmap aimed at achieving greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction, aligned with OIL’s ambitious 2040 Net-Zero target. It also prioritizes water neutrality, effective management of plastic waste, and conservation of biodiversity, thereby reinforcing OIL’s alignment with India’s climate objectives and the global energy transition.

Looking ahead, OIL intends to continue integrating sustainability into its core operations by leveraging innovative technologies, enhancing resource efficiency, and maintaining rigorous environmental disclosures. The company is determined to build upon its current progress and further enhance its sustainability performance in the years to come.
