New Delhi: Oil India Limited (OIL) announced on Wednesday that it has signed a Technology Service Agreement with TotalEnergies to strengthen collaboration in deepwater and ultradeepwater offshore exploration across India. The signing ceremony was held in New Delhi in the presence of Petroleum Secretary Pankaj Jain, Additional Secretary Praveen Mal Khanooja, and OIL Chairman and Managing Director Ranjit Rath.
The agreement establishes a framework for OIL to leverage TotalEnergies’ world-class expertise across the deep and ultradeep water exploration value chain, covering both OIL’s current and future offshore portfolio.
Partnership Signing and Leadership Presence
The pact was signed by Sangkaran Ratnam, CMD, TotalEnergies Gas & Power Projects India Pvt Ltd, and Saloma Yomdo, Director (E&D), OIL. Senior officials from both organizations attended the ceremony, highlighting the strategic significance of this collaboration for India’s offshore exploration ambitions.
Focus on Key Offshore Basins
Under the agreement, OIL and TotalEnergies will collaborate on a range of ongoing and upcoming exploration programs, including:
- Appraisal of gas discoveries in shallow offshore blocks in the Andaman Basin.
- Exploration activities in OALP-IX ultradeepwater blocks in the Mahanadi and Krishna-Godavari basins.
- Evaluation of opportunities under ongoing OALP-X and future bid rounds.
- Technical support for stratigraphic well drilling in offshore Category-II and III basins.
The collaboration is expected to enhance OIL’s technical capabilities and accelerate the identification of potential hydrocarbon resources in India’s offshore frontiers.
