The Manipur Government has decided to appoint Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu as Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports) by the Manipur government after her historic silver medal at Tokyo Olympics,
She recently made the country proud by bagging a silver medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020 and opening India’s medal count. Chanu is only the second Indian weightlifter to clinch a medal in the history of the Olympics after Karnam Malleswari bagged bronze in the 69kg category at the 2000 Sydney Games.
Chanu returned back to India and received a hero’s welcome at the airport on Monday. As per a news agency, the Manipur Government has decided to appoint Chanu as Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports) in the police department.
