In a significant development, Om Prakash Sinha has been appointed as the Director (Exploration) at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC). The decision was made during a meeting of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) held on April 17, 2025.
Mr Sinha, who is currently serving as the Executive Director and Head of the Institute of Reservoir Studies in Ahmedabad at ONGC, was selected for the prestigious role following an extensive interview process. Out of 12 candidates who were interviewed for the position, Sinha’s experience and expertise in the field of exploration made him the top contender.
ONGC, a Central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), stands as the largest government-owned oil and gas explorer and producer in India. The company plays a pivotal role in meeting the country’s energy needs and is crucial to India’s oil and gas sector.
The PESB, which serves as the head-hunter for PSUs, has officially recommended Mr Sinha’s name for the post of Director (Exploration) at ONGC, an organization that is critical to India’s energy landscape. His appointment comes at a time when ONGC continues to strengthen its position as a leader in oil and gas exploration and production.
