New Delhi: Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has invited applications for the position of Director (Production). Eligible and interested candidates can apply for the post until 10th January 2026. The current Director (Production), Pankaj Kumar, will vacate the position on 1st July 2026.
Key Responsibilities of the Director (Production)
The Director (Production) is a member of the Board of Directors and reports directly to the Chairman and CEO of ONGC. The role involves overseeing all onshore and offshore production operations, including processing plants, and ensuring sustained and improved hydrocarbon production. Key responsibilities include:
- Performance management of oil and gas assets.
- Effective reservoir management.
- Development and execution of offshore and onshore field monetisation strategies aligned with ONGC’s business objectives.
- Scouting and assimilation of new technologies.
- Optimising resource utilisation in coordination with other Board members.
- Identifying and evaluating external collaboration opportunities to enhance production across assets.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit: Minimum 45 years; maximum 60 years (superannuation).
Pay Scale: Rs 1,60,000 – Rs 2,90,000 (IDA).
Service Requirement: Minimum one year in the eligible scale for internal candidates and two years for others as of the date of vacancy.
Applicants must be employed in a regular capacity (not contractual or ad-hoc) in any of the following:
- Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE), including full-time functional Directors on CPSE Boards.
- Central Government Group ‘A’ Officers, including Armed Forces and All India Services, or officers from Public Sector Banks, Financial Institutions, or Autonomous Bodies.
- State Public Sector Enterprises (SPSE) with annual turnover of Rs 10,000 crore or more.
- Private sector companies with annual turnover of Rs 10,000 crore or more.
Preference will be given to candidates from listed companies.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- Educational Qualifications: Engineering graduate from a recognised university; Post Graduate degree in Engineering, MBA/PGDM, or relevant Geo-Sciences is an added advantage.
- Work Experience: Minimum five years of cumulative experience in production activities of the E&P hydrocarbon sector in a large organisation of repute within the last 10 years. Experience of offshore production units or managing offshore units for at least two years is preferable.
Duration of Appointment
The selected candidate will be appointed for a period of five years from the date of joining, or until the date of superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
