New Delhi: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has officially launched the Urja Bharat Convention Centre (UBCC) at its Advanced Training Institute (ATI) in Betul, Goa, creating a new world-class destination for business events, conferences, exhibitions, and international gatherings.
The grand showcase event, held on 18 and 19 July 2026, witnessed participation from more than 100 industry leaders, event managers, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) professionals from across India.
Located amid lush green landscapes and overlooking the Arabian Sea, UBCC has been developed as an integrated venue designed to host large-scale corporate events, global conferences, exhibitions, and high-profile gatherings.
Urja Bharat Convention Centre Features World-Class Infrastructure
The newly launched convention centre has been designed with modern facilities and multiple dedicated spaces to cater to events of different sizes and formats.
The key infrastructure components of UBCC include:
Prithvi – Convention Centre
- Capacity to accommodate more than 3,500 delegates
- Designed for large conventions, corporate events, and international conferences
Vayu – Exhibition Hall
- Features a massive 7,200 square metre column-free exhibition space
- Suitable for trade shows, exhibitions, product launches, and industry events
Akash – Conference and Training Facility
- Spread across 8,353 square metres of built-up area
- Includes:
- 150-seat auditorium
- 8 classrooms
- 8 syndicate rooms
- Dedicated conference facilities
Together, these facilities create a complete MICE ecosystem capable of hosting events ranging from small business meetings to large international conventions.
ONGC Aims to Transform India’s MICE Landscape
With the launch of UBCC, ONGC has entered India’s rapidly growing MICE sector, adding a premium convention and exhibition destination to Goa’s business tourism infrastructure.
The centre is expected to strengthen Goa’s position as a preferred destination for corporate events, international conferences, and exhibitions by combining advanced facilities with the state’s natural beauty and tourism appeal.
The initiative aims to offer event organisers a unique experience by bringing together modern infrastructure, scenic surroundings, and sustainable operations.
Sustainable Infrastructure at Urja Bharat Convention Centre
Sustainability has been a key focus in the development of UBCC. The Advanced Training Institute in Goa houses one of India’s largest behind-the-meter microgrid systems, featuring advanced clean energy solutions.
The sustainability features include:
- 10 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
- Rooftop solar installations
- Ground-mounted solar systems
- Vertical-axis wind generator
According to ONGC, the long-term vision is to power events hosted at the venue primarily through clean energy, reducing the environmental impact of large-scale gatherings.
Urjatva Programme Showcases Goa’s MICE Potential
The two-day Urjatva programme was organised to showcase the capabilities of the new convention centre and gather feedback from industry stakeholders.
The event included:

- Interactive feedback sessions
Representatives from Goa Tourism, the India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB), Indian Exhibition Industry Association (IEIA), international convention bodies, event organisers, exhibition companies, hospitality brands, and venue operators participated in the programme.

- Destination marketing strategies
- Convention bidding initiatives
- AI-based event technologies
- Sustainability practices
- Workforce development

Speaking about the initiative, Saket Gupta, Executive Director, ONGC and Chief of ATI Goa, said that Urjatva was created as a platform for MICE industry experts and leaders to experience the venue and provide suggestions for its future growth.
He highlighted that the combination of Prithvi, Vayu, and Akash creates a comprehensive MICE ecosystem capable of hosting events across different scales and formats.
