Patna: Facilities and security at the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park (Patna Zoo) are set to be significantly upgraded. The entire zoo premises will be placed under comprehensive CCTV surveillance, with plans to install 150 new CCTV cameras connected to a modern Command and Control Center for round-the-clock monitoring.
The details were shared by Additional Chief Secretary, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, Mr. Anand Kishore, during a press conference held at the zoo premises on Wednesday.
Online Ticket Booking to Begin Within 15 Days
Visitors will soon be able to purchase Patna Zoo tickets online, with the facility expected to start within the next 15 days. The ACS clarified that the existing offline counter-based ticket system will continue alongside online booking for visitors’ convenience.

Mobile App to Provide Information on Animals and Plants
A dedicated mobile application for Patna Zoo is currently under development and is likely to be launched by February. The app will provide detailed information about animals and plants present in the zoo.
Using location-based technology, the app will automatically display relevant information when visitors approach a particular animal or plant, offering a unique and interactive zoo experience.
Guided Zoo Tours to Start from February
From February onwards, visitors—especially tourists from outside the state—will be able to explore the zoo with the help of trained tour guides. The guided tour service will be available at a fixed fee, enabling visitors to gain in-depth knowledge during their visit.
Focus on Educational Activities for Students
Referring to the Chief Minister’s recent visit, the ACS said special emphasis is being placed on connecting school children with the zoo. To enhance educational engagement, activities such as seminars, awareness programs and information sessions will be increased. An annual activity calendar will be prepared for systematic implementation.
150 New CCTV Cameras and Control Center Planned
As part of security enhancement, 150 new CCTV cameras will be installed across the zoo campus. These cameras will be integrated with a state-of-the-art Command and Control Center, ensuring 24×7 monitoring of visitors, staff movement and internal activities throughout the zoo.
New Attractions and Visitor Facilities in the Pipeline
Several new facilities are being introduced to enhance tourist attraction, including a unique tree-top walkway, a souvenir shop, and a plant nursery offering saplings at affordable rates based on public suggestions.
Additional amenities include food kiosks, beautification of both entry gates, shaded seating areas, 3D wall paintings, and the launch of Zoo Volunteer and Zoo Mitra programs.
Infrastructure and Environment-Friendly Improvements
The fish aquarium and medicinal garden will be upgraded with modern designs. Cleaning operations within the zoo will be carried out using pollution-free vehicles, reinforcing the zoo’s commitment to sustainability.
