PESB Invites Applications for Director (Commercial) at NMDC Limited; Deadline February 9, 2026

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has invited applications for the post of Director (Commercial) at NMDC Limited, India’s largest iron ore producer and a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Steel. The vacancy is scheduled to arise on January 7, 2026, initiating the process to fill a key board-level position at the mining major.

The Director (Commercial) role is considered crucial for guiding NMDC’s commercial strategy, marketing operations, and materials management at a time when the company plays a central role in India’s steel and mineral security goals.

Key Details of the Vacancy

  • Post: Director (Commercial), NMDC Limited
  • Reporting Authority: Chairman and Managing Director (CMD)
  • Pay Scale: ₹1,80,000 – ₹3,40,000 (IDA)
  • Tenure: Five years from the date of joining or until superannuation (60 years), whichever is earlier
  • Last Date to Apply: February 9, 2026, by 3:00 PM

Eligibility Criteria and Who Can Apply

PESB has prescribed stringent eligibility norms to attract experienced professionals from both public and private sectors:

  • Age Limit:
    • Internal candidates: Maximum 45 years
    • Others: Maximum 50 years
      (as on January 7, 2026, with minimum residual service of 2–3 years)
  • Eligible Backgrounds:
    • Central or State CPSEs with turnover of ₹5,000 crore or more
    • Central Government Group ‘A’ officers (Joint Secretary level or equivalent)
    • Public Sector Banks or Financial Institutions (Board level or one level below)
    • Armed Forces officers (Major General level or equivalent)
    • Private sector executives from companies with turnover of ₹5,000 crore or more
  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Engineering graduate, or
    • Graduate with MBA/PGDM in Marketing
  • Experience:
    • Minimum five years in the last ten years in marketing, business development, sales planning, forecasting, or materials management
    • Experience in the minerals or metals sector will be an added advantage

Role and Responsibilities

The Director (Commercial) will be a member of NMDC’s Board of Directors and will oversee key commercial functions, including marketing strategy, sales operations, pricing, logistics, and materials management. The role is critical in strengthening NMDC’s market position and ensuring efficient supply of raw materials to the domestic steel industry.

Application Process and Conditions

  • Applications must be submitted online only through the PESB website (https://pesb.gov.in).
  • Candidates must apply through the proper channel, as specified by PESB.
  • Selected candidates must compulsorily join the post. Declining the offer after selection or issuance of the appointment letter will result in debarment from board-level CPSE posts for two years.
  • For Central Government officers, the appointment will be on an immediate absorption basis.
