New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Ms. Valli Natarajan, currently Executive Director at REC Limited, for appointment as Director (Projects) at Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA), a Schedule-A Central Public Sector Enterprise. The recommendation was made following a rigorous selection process involving interviews of senior executives from leading power and infrastructure public sector undertakings.
Decision Taken After PESB Selection Meeting
The decision was finalized during the PESB selection meeting held at 4:30 PM on January 12, 2026, under the aegis of the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Government of India. After detailed deliberations and assessment of candidates’ professional experience, leadership capabilities, and domain expertise, the PESB unanimously recommended Ms. Natarajan for the post.

Extensive Experience in Power and Renewable Energy Financing
Ms. Valli Natarajan is currently serving as Executive Director at REC Limited, one of India’s premier power sector financial institutions under the Ministry of Power. In her current role, she oversees key renewable energy and infrastructure financing portfolios and has played a significant role in supporting India’s evolving power and clean energy ecosystem. Her experience spans project appraisal, large-scale financing, and strategic oversight of infrastructure and renewable energy initiatives.
Senior PSU Leaders Interviewed for the Post
A total of 11 senior executives were interviewed for the prestigious Director (Projects) position, reflecting the strategic importance of the role. The candidates included senior officials from IREDA, REC, Power Finance Corporation (PFC), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), NMDC, Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), and Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL), among others. The wide pool of applicants underscored the competitive nature of the selection process.
Next Step: Cabinet Approval
Following the PESB recommendation, the proposal will now be forwarded to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for final approval. Upon clearance by the ACC, Ms. Natarajan will formally assume charge as Director (Projects) at IREDA.
