Donald Tusk Welcomed in New Delhi
Tusk arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday evening and was received at the airport by Raj Bhushan Choudhary, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti.
Welcoming the Polish leader, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the visit would provide fresh impetus to the India-Poland Strategic Partnership and deepen the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
The Polish delegation includes Andrzej Domański, Poland’s Minister of Finance and Economy, along with a high-level business delegation.
The visit combines diplomatic engagements with business interactions aimed at strengthening economic and strategic links between the two countries.
India-Poland Business Forums Planned in Delhi and Bengaluru
Alongside the bilateral discussions, the visiting delegation is scheduled to participate in business forums in New Delhi and Bengaluru on October 22 and 23, respectively.
The forums are expected to facilitate engagement between business representatives from the two countries and explore opportunities for cooperation across sectors.
Bengaluru, the final destination on Tusk’s itinerary, is particularly relevant to the delegation’s planned engagement with businesses in information technology and the space sector.
The business programme is expected to complement the political discussions by providing a platform for companies to explore potential partnerships and investment opportunities.
India-Poland Strategic Partnership Since 2024
India and Poland elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership during Modi’s visit to Warsaw in August 2024. The upgrade established a framework for expanding cooperation across political, economic, defence, technological and other areas of mutual interest.
Tusk’s current visit builds on that engagement, bringing together high-level diplomatic discussions and business interactions.
His previous visit to India as Polish prime minister was in 2010, during his earlier tenure. The latest visit is intended to advance bilateral cooperation and explore further opportunities for engagement between the two countries.
With discussions spanning defence, trade, technology and international affairs, the visit places both strategic cooperation and commercial engagement on the agenda.
