President Droupadi Murmu Urges Officer Trainees to Uphold Integrity, National Interest and Excellence in Public Service

New Delhi: Officer trainees of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS), Indian Trade Service (ITS), and Defence Aeronautical Quality Assurance Service (DAQAS) called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday.

The interaction highlighted the crucial role of young civil servants in strengthening governance, safeguarding national interests, and contributing to India’s global standing. The President extended her congratulations to the officer trainees, describing their entry into these prestigious services as a significant achievement.

She noted that countless aspirants dedicate years of preparation to enter these services, but only a select few succeed. Emphasizing the responsibility that comes with such success, she urged the young officers to serve with honesty, integrity, and a strong sense of duty, and to emerge as role models in public life.

In a social media post following the meeting, President Murmu underlined the transformative potential of committed public service. She stated that when officers work with dedication for the development of the country and the well-being of every citizen, the nation grows stronger, more capable, and more respected on the global stage.

The President stressed that public service must always remain people-centric, focusing on welfare and inclusive growth. She added that sincere and dedicated efforts by officers can significantly enhance India’s stature in the international arena. 

Key Role of Indian Audit and Accounts Service in Financial Discipline

Addressing the trainees of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service, the President highlighted their pivotal role in maintaining financial discipline and accountability in governance.

She said that their work is critical in safeguarding public funds and ensuring that taxpayer money is used effectively and transparently. Emphasizing the importance of institutional harmony, she noted that strong coordination between audit bodies and the government results in better utilization of resources and improved outcomes.

President Murmu urged the IA&AS trainees to adhere strictly to constitutional values and uphold the rich traditions of the service. She reminded them that their integrity and professionalism form the backbone of financial governance in the country.

Indian Trade Service: Driving Trade, Investment and Employment

Turning to the Indian Trade Service officers, the President underscored their strategic importance in boosting trade, attracting investment, and generating employment opportunities.

She observed that their policy decisions, negotiations, and trade engagements have a direct impact on India’s global trade position. In an increasingly interconnected world, she said, trade diplomacy plays a vital role in strengthening the country’s economic prospects.

President Murmu advised the ITS officers to keep national interest at the centre of all their actions and decisions. She encouraged them to approach their responsibilities with foresight, professionalism, and a strong commitment to advancing India’s economic growth.

Defence Aeronautical Quality Assurance Service: Safeguarding National Security

Addressing the trainees of the Defence Aeronautical Quality Assurance Service, the President stressed that quality assurance in defence equipment is of paramount importance.

She stated that their work directly contributes to national security and the operational readiness of the armed forces. Ensuring high standards in defence aeronautical systems, she said, is essential for building a strong and modern military capability.

President Murmu encouraged the DAQAS trainees to focus on innovation and technological advancement. She called upon them to play a proactive role in strengthening indigenous capabilities and supporting the development of modern, reliable defence systems.
