Guwahati: In a proud moment for Assam Police, Guwahati’s Commissioner of Police, Partha Sarathi Mahanta, 2006 batch IPS officer, has been conferred the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service for his exceptional leadership and unwavering contribution to policing in the state. The prestigious honour was announced on the eve of Independence Day, recognising Mahanta’s long-standing commitment to public service and law enforcement excellence.

Seventeen Assam Police Officers Honoured Nationally

IPS Mahanta’s award is among 17 national medals conferred upon personnel of the Assam Police this year by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The awards recognise a wide spectrum of police service, ranging from gallantry to meritorious service and professional excellence.

  • 3 officers were awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry, recognising acts of exceptional bravery.
  • 13 officers received the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, for their consistent dedication, discipline, and contribution to policing.
