Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Prince Kumar as the Additional Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), with immediate effect and until further orders.
The appointment was notified through an order issued by the General Administration Department’s All India Services Section on October 28, 2026. Kumar has been moved from his existing position as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Shrine Board to the new assignment.
The order was issued by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is the chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.
Who Is Prince Kumar?
Prince Kumar, born on July 15, 1998, is a 2023-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre. His year of appointment and allotment is 2023.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Geography from B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
Prince Kumar’s Administrative Career in Jammu and Kashmir
Kumar has held assignments in Jammu and Kashmir as part of his early administrative career.
In July 2025, following the completion of Phase-II IAS training, he was among the 2023-batch AGMUT-cadre officers posted to Jammu and Kashmir by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He subsequently served as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Uri, before being transferred to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board as OSD in October 2026.
A Jammu and Kashmir Government reshuffle announced earlier in October placed Kumar in the OSD role at the Shrine Board. His latest appointment elevates him to the position of Additional CEO within the same institution.
The progression from SDM Uri to OSD and now Additional CEO of SASB marks his latest administrative assignment in the Union Territory.
Role of the Additional CEO of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board
The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board oversees arrangements and administration associated with the annual Amarnath pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir.
Its responsibilities include coordinating pilgrimage-related facilities, supporting arrangements for pilgrims and working with the concerned government departments and agencies on operational matters.
As Additional CEO, Kumar will serve in a senior administrative role within the board. The specific division of responsibilities between the CEO and Additional CEO is governed by the board’s administrative arrangements.
The appointment comes as the Shrine Board continues its institutional work related to pilgrimage management and administration in Jammu and Kashmir.
