Shillong, July 10, 2025 – Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chaired a North‑East roundtable on the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS) at Shillong’s Lariti Auditorium. Participants included PMIS interns, state officials, and industry leaders, with a notable presence from NTPC.

Sitharaman urged interns to complete the programme and act as its “brand ambassadors.” She noted PMIS, initially meant for exposure, has also inspired entrepreneurship. Interns across the region praised the scheme, citing improved confidence, time management, and workplace readiness. An intern from East Khasi Hills shared how REC Limited placement taught him vital multitasking skills.

PMIS connects interns to national and global companies. Intern Aditi Kashyap, working on hydrocarbon data, credited the experience with sharpening her discipline. Willkilinton Deori from Jorhat highlighted growing clarity about his career path thanks to PMIS.
