Numaligarh Refinery (NRL) Donates Fully Equipped Ambulance to Azara Block PHC to Strengthen Emergency Healthcare in Guwahati

Guwahati: In a meaningful contribution toward enhancing healthcare accessibility, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, has donated a fully equipped ambulance to the Sub-Divisional Medical & Health Officer (SDM & HO) of Azara Block Primary Health Centre (BPHC). The health centre falls under the jurisdiction of the Guwahati Metropolitan City.

Formal Handover in the Presence of State Leadership
The ambulance was formally handed over on June 2, 2025, during a special ceremony graced by top dignitaries.

Mr. Pranab Jyoti Sarma, CGM & Head – Project Pipeline, NRL, and Mr. Lakhyadhar Kalita, GM – Project Pipeline, NRL, officially handed over the keys.

The event was held in the presence of-

  • Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam
  • Mr. Pijush Hazarika, Hon’ble Minister
  • Senior doctors and staff of the Azara BPHC

The Azara BPHC hosted the handover event, reflecting the local community’s appreciation for the critical support.

Improving Emergency Response and Medical Access
The donated ambulance is fully equipped with necessary medical gear to support emergency transportation and first-response care. This initiative aims to bolster the emergency healthcare infrastructure of the Azara region, particularly for underprivileged and vulnerable communities.

By enabling quicker access to hospitals and critical care facilities, the ambulance is expected to save lives and improve patient outcomes across the region.

Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), a Schedule ‘A’ Miniratna-I CPSE, is a public sector oil refinery under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, according to a company profile. It was incorporated on April 22, 1993, and is a subsidiary of Oil India Limited, with 69.63% shareholding. NRL’s main function is crude oil refining and the marketing of petroleum products.
