On May 22nd, the Election Commission of India (ECI) transferred two IPS officers (both 2009-batch, Punjab cadre officers), Mr. Kuldeep Chahal and Mr. Swapan Sharma, commissioners of police (CPs) of Ludhiana and Jalandhar commissioners of police, respectively, to non-election duties.
Officer Chahal was substituted by Mr. Nilabh Kishore (1998-batch IPS officer), the incumbent TF ADGP in Sahibzada Ajit Singh (SAS) Nagar, as the new CP of Ludhiana. Officer Sharma was replaced by Mr. Rahul S (2008-batch IPS officer), currently posted as the DIG-cum-director of the vigilance bureau in SAS Nagar, as the CP of Jalandhar.
