Chandigarh: The Punjab Governor and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, today interacted with a group of IAS probationers at Punjab Raj Bhavan, offering them words of wisdom and encouragement as they embark on their administrative careers.
Congratulating the young officers on their success in the prestigious All India Services Examination, the Governor emphasized the vital role they will play in shaping the future of the nation. He urged them to uphold the values of good governance, ensure efficient public service delivery, and guarantee the timely execution of welfare and development schemes.
“Use your education and training not just to administer, but to serve the people as their friend, guide, and well-wisher,” Mr Kataria told the probationers. He advised them to combine firmness in upholding the law with a compassionate and humane approach in public dealings.
Stressing the importance of planning and execution in administration, the Governor also highlighted the need for a thorough understanding of the Constitution, calling it the guiding framework for their careers. He further recommended that the officers learn the local language to better connect with the people they serve, enabling more effective communication and understanding of ground-level challenges.
The interaction was marked by a spirit of mentorship and dialogue, as the Governor shared insights from his experience and encouraged the young officers to remain grounded and committed to public service.
