Chandigarh: The Punjab government has effected a reshuffle involving three senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, assigning them key responsibilities across agriculture, revenue, rural development, planning, horticulture and other departments.
Under the latest administrative changes, 1993-batch IAS officer Anurag Verma has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare.
1995-batch IAS officer Mrs Jaspreet Talwar has been appointed ACS-cum-Financial Commissioner, Revenue, Rehabilitation & Disaster Management. She will also hold additional charge of ACS, Mines & Geology and ACS, Justice.
Meanwhile, 2004-batch IAS officer Arshdeep Singh Thind has been posted as Administrative Secretary, Rural Developments & Panchayats. He will additionally hold charge as Administrative Secretary, Planning and Administrative Secretary, Horticulture.
Anurag Verma Posted as ACS, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare
Anurag Verma, a 1993-batch IAS officer, has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare.
The department is responsible for matters relating to agriculture and the welfare of farmers in Punjab, a state where the agriculture sector has a significant role in the economy and rural livelihoods.
With the latest posting, Verma will oversee the administrative affairs of the Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Department at the Additional Chief Secretary level.
Jaspreet Talwar Gets Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management
Mrs Jaspreet Talwar, a 1995-batch IAS officer, has been appointed ACS-cum-Financial Commissioner, Revenue, Rehabilitation & Disaster Management.
The assignment places her at the helm of the state’s revenue administration as well as matters relating to rehabilitation and disaster management.
Talwar has also been given three additional responsibilities. She will hold the additional charge of ACS, Mines & Geology and ACS, Justice.
The multiple assignments bring together key areas of state administration covering land and revenue matters, rehabilitation, disaster response, mining and the justice department.
Arshdeep Singh Thind Gets Rural Development and Panchayats
Arshdeep Singh Thind, a 2004-batch IAS officer, has been posted as Administrative Secretary, Rural Developments & Panchayats.
In addition to his primary assignment, Thind will hold charge as Administrative Secretary, Planning and Administrative Secretary, Horticulture.
His responsibilities will therefore span rural development and panchayati raj-related administration along with planning and horticulture.
Three Senior IAS Officers Get Key Departmental Responsibilities
The latest reshuffle places the three officers in charge of departments covering several important areas of Punjab’s administration.
Verma will take charge of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, while Talwar will oversee Revenue, Rehabilitation & Disaster Management along with her additional responsibilities for Mines & Geology and Justice.
Thind will handle Rural Developments & Panchayats and will additionally look after Planning and Horticulture.
The changes mark a redistribution of responsibilities among senior IAS officers across several major departments of the Punjab government.
