Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has approved the transfer of two police officers, including one from the Indian Police Service (IPS) and another from the Punjab Police Service (PPS), as part of an administrative reshuffle within the state’s Vigilance Bureau.
Transfers in the Vigilance Bureau
The administrative changes were announced on December 30, 2025, and are aimed at strengthening oversight and ensuring effective functioning in the Vigilance Bureau.
Harpreet Singh (IPS) has been transferred and posted as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Vigilance Bureau, Amritsar Range. He replaces Lakhbir Singh, who was recently suspended.
Prabhjot Kaur (PPS), currently serving as a Joint Director in the bureau, has been given the additional charge of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Vigilance Bureau Punjab.
Background on the Transfers
The reshuffle follows the suspension of Lakhbir Singh, the previous SSP of the Amritsar Vigilance Bureau. Reports indicate that the suspension was linked to complaints raised by a construction company and a senior IAS officer.
The new appointments are expected to ensure administrative continuity and strengthen vigilance operations in the Amritsar range and across Punjab.
Administrative Implications
These transfers reflect the Punjab Government’s focus on accountability, transparency, and responsive policing. With experienced officers like Harpreet Singh and Prabhjot Kaur taking key roles, the Vigilance Bureau is expected to maintain rigorous oversight and effective investigation standards.
