New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India Limited has bagged a major domestic work order from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) for the Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning (SITC) of underground optical fiber cable (OFC), along with a six-year Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC).
Project Overview: OFC Laying Across Campuses
The contract involves the underground laying of optical fiber cable from the IIT Delhi campus to its Sonipat campus and from IIT Delhi to the Greater Noida campus. The OFC laying is expected to be completed within nine months, with the overall AMC and execution timeline extending up to February 24, 2032.
The work will ensure high-speed connectivity between campuses, supporting IIT Delhi’s growing demand for digital infrastructure, smart campus projects, and robust research network capabilities.
Order Value and Strategic Importance
The total order value is ₹17,02,24,928 (approximately ₹17.02 crore), making it a significant addition to RailTel’s telecom infrastructure portfolio. The contract strengthens RailTel’s position in the optical fiber network and digital infrastructure segment, particularly in the education and research sector.
With the rising demand for high-speed data connectivity and smart infrastructure in institutional campuses, contracts like this are expected to enhance RailTel’s long-term revenue visibility.
Regulatory and Governance Compliance
RailTel clarified that the work order:
- Is awarded by a domestic entity.
- Does not involve related party transactions.
- Has no interest of promoters or promoter group in the awarding entity.
- Was promptly reported as per SEBI regulations.
The announcement was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, ensuring full transparency and compliance.
