New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. has secured two major contracts worth over ₹564 crore from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). The projects involve the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning (SITC) of advanced integrated tunnel communication systems for railway infrastructure.

The company disclosed the development to stock exchanges under SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015.

Order Value and Project Scope

RailTel received two Letters of Acceptance (LoAs) on April 13, 2026, with a combined contract value of approximately ₹564.55 crore (including taxes).

Package 1

  • Order Value: ₹309.28 crore
  • Coverage: Tunnels T-1 to T-7 and stations (42.7 km section)
  • Completion Deadline: April 12, 2028

Package 2

  • Order Value: ₹255.27 crore
  • Coverage: Tunnels T-8 to T-11 and 4 stations (36 km section)
  • Completion Deadline: April 12, 2028

Key Features of the Project

The contracts focus on deploying critical communication and safety infrastructure across railway tunnels. The scope includes:

  • VHF Simplex System: Ensures reliable voice communication
  • CCTV Surveillance: Enhances monitoring and security
  • Public Address (PA) System: Enables announcements and emergency alerts
  • Emergency Call Points: Improves passenger safety and response systems

Overall, the systems will cover 11 tunnels and multiple stations spanning approximately 78.7 km.

Strategic Importance

This project highlights the growing emphasis on railway safety, digital infrastructure, and real-time communication systems in India’s rail network. Tunnel environments require robust communication systems due to operational complexity and safety risks, making such deployments critical.

RailTel confirmed that:

  • The contract is not a related party transaction
  • There is no promoter or group company interest in RVNL
  • The disclosure was made without delay, ensuring compliance with regulatory norms
