On the occasion of the 76th Rajasthan Police Raising Day, a grand state-level ceremony was held at the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) in Jaipur on Wednesday. Chief Minister Mr. Bhajan Lal Sharma attended the function as the chief guest and paid floral tributes at the Martyrs’ Memorial, honouring the police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He later took the salute at the ceremonial parade.

During the event, the Chief Minister made several key announcements aimed at the welfare and morale of police personnel:
- The uniform allowance for personnel from the rank of constable to assistant sub-inspector (ASI) has been increased from Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 8,000.
- The mess allowance for officers up to the rank of police inspector has been raised from Rs. 2,400 to Rs. 2,700.
- Policemen will now be entitled to free travel in Rajasthan Roadways express and semi-deluxe buses.
- A Police Modernisation and Infrastructure Fund of Rs. 200 crore will be established to enhance policing capabilities and related infrastructure.
- A 10% hike in the honorarium of Languria staff working in the Police and Prison Departments was also announced.
Later in the event, the Chief Minister was scheduled to present the Police Medal to officers and personnel for their meritorious service. A blood donation camp was also organized at RPA, while the day’s celebrations were set to conclude with a police band performance at Jawahar Circle.
Rajasthan Police Raising Day is celebrated annually on April 16. The foundation of the Rajasthan Police was laid on 7 April 1949, when Mr. R. Banerjee became the first Inspector General of Police and drafted a unified police code for the newly integrated state. The formal establishment of the Rajasthan Police took place in January 1951.
The day is observed as a tribute to the dedication, bravery, and sacrifices of the police force and reaffirms the department’s commitment to effective service delivery and public safety.
