New Delhi: In a landmark decision, the Ministry of Railways has approved the permanent absorption of Ravi Prakash Chaturvedi, IRTS, a senior Railway officer, into the Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR), effective January 6, 2026. This move also includes full pension and gratuity benefits, ensuring a smooth transition from his Railway service to CONCOR.
Approval Process and Presidential Sanction
The decision follows a formal request by CONCOR dated December 19, 2025. The sanction has been issued with President’s approval, in line with standard procedures for the absorption of Railway officers into public sector undertakings. Chaturvedi’s transition marks a significant milestone in his career, allowing him to continue contributing to India’s logistics and transportation sector under CONCOR’s umbrella.

Retirement Benefits and Pension Entitlements
Under the terms of absorption, Chaturvedi will receive pension and pro-rata retirement gratuity for his service in Indian Railways. Key points include:
- Eligibility to commute up to 40% of his pension
- Gratuity calculation based on Railway Services (Pension) Rules, 1993
- Benefits under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (1977) are not applicable
- Total gratuity will be capped at the amount he would have received if he had retired directly from Railway service at the same pay in CONCOR
- Monthly pension payments will begin immediately after his Railway service ends
These measures ensure continuity of benefits while aligning with standard government protocols.
