Setting Record: 35th Time This IAS Turns Poll Observer

An IAS officer of Kerala cadre has set a new record by becoming an Election Observer for the 35th time. Dr. Raju Narayana Swamy who is a 1991-batch officer has been appointed poll observer for the Karnataka Assembly elections. He has been assigned Bangalore South, the largest constituency in Karnataka in terms of votes.

Dr. Swamy is presently the Principal Secretary to the Government of Kerala. He has served in 16 states across the country- including in naxal-affected areas such as Jharkhand and border areas of the country. Dr. Swamy has also been International Observer in the 2018 Zimbabwe Elections. 

Swamy has served in many capacities including DM of five districts, Agricultural Production Commissioner and Commissioner Civil Supplies, Kerala, and Chairman, of Coconut Development Board, India.

Known for his innovative and proactive approach to governance Dr. Raju Narayan Swamy has penned 31 books and won the Sahitya Academy Award for his Travelogue “Shantimantram Muzhangunna Thazhvarayil”.
