Tanakpur: In a significant milestone for India’s hydropower sector, NHPC’s Tanakpur Power Station recorded its highest-ever electricity generation for the month of July. The plant generated 72.68 million units (MU) of power in July 2025 surpassing all previous records for the month since its commissioning.
Historic Monthly Surge in Output
The previous highest July generation stood at 70.10 MU, achieved in July 2022. With the new figure, Tanakpur Power Station has not only broken its own record but also set a new benchmark for operational performance.
This output also ranks as the second-highest monthly generation in the station’s history across all months, reaffirming NHPC’s steady growth in hydropower efficiency and output.

Strengthening India’s Renewable Grid
