New Delhi: In a landmark development for the Indian logistics and cement sectors, Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR), a state-owned logistics PSU, has launched specialized tank containers to transport bulk cement in loose form—a move set to revolutionize cement logistics in the country.

This initiative marks the first deployment of such containers in India, signifying a strategic shift toward efficient, sustainable, and modern transportation of cement via the rail network.

First Movement Commences from Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru

According to the official press release, the real-time operational rollout of these tank containers began from My Home Cement Siding (MMHM) located in Mellacheruvu, Andhra Pradesh, to CONCOR’s Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Whitefield, Bengaluru.

This successful movement is a milestone in India’s multimodal logistics journey, reinforcing the growing preference for rail-based freight in heavy industries.
