New Delhi: Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd has bagged a significant railway electrification order worth ₹129.09 crore from Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL). The contract involves the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of a 2×25 kV traction overhead equipment (OHE) system in the Yavatmal-Digras section under Central Railway’s Nagpur Division, Maharashtra.

The electrification project, part of Indian Railways’ broader mission to modernize and decarbonize its infrastructure, is expected to be completed within 18 months.

A Step Towards Greener Railways

Electrification of rail routes is a key component of the Ministry of Railways’ goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. Projects like this not only cut diesel dependency but also increase the speed, safety, and efficiency of rail transport in India.

Vice Chairman & Executive Director of Texmaco, Indrajit Mookerjee, said,

“This order is a testament to Texmaco’s commitment to India’s rail modernisation. It reflects the trust that public sector clients like RVNL place in our technical capabilities and execution experience.”

Project Scope & Technical Highlights

The scope of work includes:

  • Designing and installing 2×25 kV Traction OHE systems
  • Erection, testing, and commissioning of trackside electrification infrastructure
  • Integration with existing rail systems and safety standards

This dual-voltage system is widely adopted for heavy-haul and high-speed rail corridors and is known for better energy efficiency and load handling.

Growing Presence in Railway Electrification

Texmaco Rail, a prominent player in rail infrastructure and engineering, has been actively expanding its portfolio in the railway electrification segment. With projects across India, the company is aligning itself with the government’s ‘Green Railways’ and Make in India initiatives.

This order also adds to Texmaco’s robust order book and reinforces its role as a key infrastructure partner to Indian Railways and its PSU arms like RVNL.
