New Delhi: Sachidananda Maharana, currently serving as Chief General Manager at Oil India Limited (OIL), has been appointed as Director (Finance) of Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), Assam.
The appointment was confirmed by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, as per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
Mr Maharana will serve in the role until the date of his retirement, i.e., December 31, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The selection process for the post was conducted by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), which interviewed 10 candidates on February 1, 2025, before recommending Maharana’s name for the top finance role at NRL.
Bringing with him extensive experience in financial management within the oil and energy sector, Mr. Maharana is expected to play a key role in strengthening NRL’s financial strategy and operational efficiency as the company continues its expansion plans and strategic initiatives.
Numaligarh Refinery Limited, a Government of India enterprise, plays a critical role in India’s energy landscape, particularly in the Northeast, and Mr Maharana’s appointment is seen as a move to further bolster the leadership team with deep domain expertise.
