New Delhi: Senior railway officer Dilip Kumar has taken charge as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on April 27, 2026, bringing over two decades of experience in operations, engineering, and administration.
The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet and formally announced through the Government of India.

Dilip Kumar is a senior officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) with more than 20 years of experience in:
- Train operations
- Rolling stock maintenance
- Workshop modernization
- Human resource management
He has held key leadership roles such as:
- Additional Divisional Railway Manager, East Central Railway
- Chief Workshop Manager, Harnaut (Nalanda, Bihar)
His tenure has been marked by strong administrative leadership and operational improvements.

During his career in Indian Railways, he has been associated with several notable innovations, including:
- Introduction of the first ISO 9001-certified train in East Central Railway
- Development of in-situ wheel replacement techniques for wagons
- Leadership of the widely recognized Madhubani Railway Station beautification project

Dilip Kumar is an alumnus of IIT (BHU), Varanasi, with a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
