Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) observed the ‘International Day of Persons with Disabilities’ by distributing assistive devices to persons with disabilities (Divyangjans) at its Corporate Office in New Delhi. Organized under SAIL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), the program provided aids such as tricycles, motorized tricycles, smart canes, smartphones for the visually impaired, and hearing aids to enhance mobility and communication.
Marking its third consecutive year, this event launches a phased distribution campaign set to extend across SAIL’s plants and units. The inaugural event was led by SAIL Chairman Amarendu Prakash and senior officials, reaffirming the company’s dedication to inclusivity and support for Divyangjans. Highlighting their resilience, Prakash remarked, “At SAIL, we salute the indomitable spirit of Divyangjans, who inspire us with their strength and determination.”
SAIL further supports the differently-abled through specialized facilities at its plant locations, including the School for Blind, Deaf, and Mentally Challenged Children at Rourkela, ‘Ashalata Kendra’ at Bokaro, ‘Durgapur Handicapped Happy Home,’ and ‘Cheshire Home’ at Burnpur, underscoring its ongoing commitment to empowering these communities.
