New Delhi/Mizoram: State-owned steel giant Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has successfully supplied nearly 15,000 metric tonnes of high-quality steel for the 51-km Bairabi–Sairang railway project in Mizoram. The steel supply marks a key milestone in the construction of this vital rail link, which is expected to transform connectivity and infrastructure development in the region.
Strategic Role in Infrastructure Development
The steel provided by SAIL will be used in critical components of the railway project, including bridges, stations, tracks, and other supporting structures. This contribution is pivotal in accelerating the construction process, ensuring the timely completion of the Bairabi–Sairang section, which forms an integral part of the Northeast Railway network expansion.
The project is expected to improve accessibility across Mizoram, significantly reducing travel time and facilitating smoother movement of people and goods. By providing a robust material backbone, SAIL’s steel ensures the safety, durability, and efficiency of the infrastructure.
