On July 23, SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, distributed 322 prosthetics and assistive devices to Divyangjans in collaboration with ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation). The event was graced by TB Toppo, AGM (CSR) of RSP, Biswasi Topno, Chairman of the Zilla Samiti (Nuagaon Block), Kamla Lugun, Social Security Officer (Nuagaon Block), and other dignitaries and staff from SAIL, ALIMCO, and the Block Office.
During the event, the dignitaries handed over various assistive devices including Battery Operated Motorized Tricycles, Hand Propelled Tricycles, Wheelchairs, Hearing Aids, Smart/Sugamya Canes, Smartphones, and Crutch Axillas to 102 Divyangjans and Senior Citizens. This initiative is part of SAIL’s ongoing efforts to support and empower disabled individuals across all its units.
Toppo welcomed the attendees and coordinated the distribution program, emphasizing the importance of these aids in enhancing the quality of life for the recipients. RSP’s commitment to this cause is further highlighted by their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ALIMCO for the ongoing distribution of assistive devices.
Similar distribution programs are planned for other areas, including Lathikata Block, Bisra Block, Birmitrapur, and Tangarpali, ensuring wider reach and support for differently-abled persons and senior citizens.
