Leadership Boost: PESB Recommends SECL’s Sandeep Paranjape as Director (Technical) of Western Coalfields Ltd – Details Inside

Mumbai: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Mr. Sandeep Sudhakar Paranjape for the post of Director (Technical) at Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a Schedule ‘B’ public sector undertaking under the administrative control of the Ministry of Coal.

Currently serving as General Manager at South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), Mr. Paranjape emerged as the top candidate among twelve senior executives shortlisted for the role. The PESB panel conducted interviews with candidates from some of the country’s leading public sector enterprises, including Damodar Valley Corporation, Central Coalfields Limited, Bharat Coking Coal Limited, Hindustan Copper Limited, NTPC Limited, and NLC India Limited.

High-Caliber Selection Process

The list of applicants featured accomplished industry leaders such as:

  • Mr. Amitanjan Nandi – Executive Director (Mining), Damodar Valley Corporation
  • Mr. Rajeev Singh – GM (Operations), Central Coalfields Limited
  • Mr. Umesh Singh – Executive Director (Mining), Hindustan Copper Limited
  • Mr. B. Anbuchelvan – Executive Director & CEO, NLC India Limited
  • Mr. Vickram Chandra Dubey – AGM, Talaipalli Coal Mining Project, NTPC Limited
  • And other experienced professionals from WCL, CCL, BCCL, and GHCL Ltd.

Mr. Paranjape’s deep expertise in mining operations, coupled with his proven leadership capabilities and strategic approach, were key factors in his recommendation by the PESB.

Awaiting Government Approval

The final appointment is subject to approval from the Government of India. Upon confirmation, Mr. Paranjape will assume responsibility as Director (Technical), where he will play a crucial role in leading WCL’s core operational and safety initiatives amid India’s ongoing energy and coal sector reforms.
