Western Coalfields Ltd (WCL) Honoured as Highest Taxpayer in Nagpur Region for 8th Consecutive Year – Details Inside

Pays Over ₹4,010 Crore in Taxes in FY 2024–25; Receives Recognition on GST Day 2025

Nagpur: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to financial integrity and national development by being recognised as the Highest Taxpayer in the Nagpur Region for the eighth consecutive year.

The recognition was conferred on the occasion of the 8th GST Day (Goods and Services Tax Day) 2025, marking a significant milestone in India’s tax reform journey. WCL’s total tax contribution for the fiscal year 2024–25 amounted to a substantial ₹4,010.49 crore, which includes payments made in cash as well as through Input Tax Credit (ITC) utilisation.

Award Ceremony and Acknowledgement

The prestigious award was presented by Mr. Atul Ratogi, Principal Commissioner of CGST, and received on behalf of WCL by Ms. B. Indira, General Manager (Finance), during a formal ceremony.

Later, in an internal ceremonial handover, the award was presented to Mr. J. P. Dwivedi, Chairman & Managing Director of WCL, by Mr. Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance), in the presence of all functional Directors and WCL’s dedicated finance team.

WCL’s consistent recognition as a top taxpayer underscores its dedication to transparent financial practices, regulatory compliance, and nation-building through responsible corporate governance. As a major player in India’s coal sector, WCL continues to make significant contributions not only through energy supply but also by upholding high standards in financial accountability.

CMD’s Perspective

CMD Mr. J.P. Dwivedi appreciated the sustained efforts of the finance team and acknowledged the critical role taxation plays in supporting infrastructure, development, and public welfare initiatives. He reiterated WCL’s commitment to being an economic pillar of the region and a model PSU in financial discipline and corporate ethics.
