New Delhi: Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU), has been awarded the prestigious CBIP Award for its exceptional contribution to the solar energy sector. The recognition highlights SECI’s groundbreaking efforts, particularly for its 100 MW Solar + Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh – one of the largest solar projects integrated with battery storage in India.
This award underscores SECI’s leadership in promoting innovation, fostering renewable energy projects, and advancing India’s clean energy transition. The company’s work in solar energy is instrumental in positioning India as a global leader in sustainable energy development.
In addition to SECI’s institutional honor, Sanjay Sharma, Director (Solar) at SECI, was presented with the award for outstanding contribution to the development of the Renewable Energy (RE) sector. Sharma, who boasts an illustrious 36-year career in the power sector, has been a driving force behind SECI’s growth and its success in securing 50 GW of renewable energy projects. His leadership has attracted significant global investments into India’s renewable energy sector.
The CBIP Awards, presented by the Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP), celebrate excellence in energy, water, and infrastructure sectors. The awards were presented at a ceremony in New Delhi, with Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority, Dr. Mukesh Kumar Sinha, Chairman of the Central Water Commission, and AK Dinkar, Secretary (CBIP), in attendance. Sanjay Sharma, Joshit Ranjan Sikidar, Director (Finance), and senior SECI officials were present to accept the awards.
