SECL Resolves 120 Dependent Pension Cases in Two Months Under Special Campaign

The company plans to organize “PF Melas” in operational areas to further expedite case settlements and offer large-scale support.

In a significant step toward employee welfare, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has successfully resolved 120 pending dependent pension cases over the past two months as part of a special campaign. The initiative is being run in collaboration with the Vigilance Department, Human Resources (HR) Department, and the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organisation (CMPFO).

This joint effort aims to fast-track the resolution of long-pending pension matters, bringing much-needed relief to employees and their families. The campaign involves direct engagement with dependents, and the company plans to organize “PF Melas” in operational areas to further expedite case settlements and offer large-scale support.

During a recent review meeting held at SECL Headquarters in Bilaspur, Director (HR) Shri Biranchi Das met with CMPFO Commissioners from Bilaspur and Jabalpur, urging better coordination and faster resolution of pending cases. The meeting also focused on resolving technical issues related to CMPFO’s C-Cares portal, which had previously caused delays.

A major procedural improvement introduced under this campaign is the issuance of revised Pension Payment Orders (PPOs). Previously, the absence of a spouse’s name in the PPO led to significant hurdles after the employee’s demise. The revised PPOs now include both the employee and spouse’s names, helping avoid such complications and ensuring faster benefit disbursal.

SECL’s ongoing initiative underscores its commitment to employee welfare, with teams reaching out proactively to affected individuals to settle their grievances. The campaign continues to gain momentum and is seen as a model for responsive and people-first governance in the coal sector.
